make a new directory for holding repositories:

/usr/local/svn

/usr/local/svn/conf/svnserve.conf:

[general]
password-db = /usr/local/svn/conf/passwds
realm = cax-svn
anon-access = read
auth-access = write

/usr/local/svn/conf/passwds:

[users]
graham = *****
cax = ******

/etc/services:

svn           3690/tcp   # Subversion
svn           3690/udp   # Subversion

/etc/inetd.conf:

svn stream tcp nowait root /usr/bin/svnserve svnserve -i -r /usr/local/svn
