SoftImage's XSI is a tool for modeling 3D objects and scenes.

System Requirements

XSI's base system requirements are listed here. Of particular interest are the video card requirements. SoftImage has certified several video cards for use with XSI. These are cards that will not be familiar to people who follow gaming cards - apparently SoftImage doesn't consider gaming cards to have sufficiently high fidelity for modeling work. We have found that numerous cards, some surprisingly low-end, work just fine with the XSI. Your mileage may vary - we certainly haven't done the level of testing that SoftImage has in their certification program. However, here are some of the graphics cards that we have found to work:

Ogre and XSI

Ogre has been integrated with XSI:

XSI and Kaydara

Kaydara is software supporting motion capture. To use Kaydara with XSI:

  • In Kaydara, export the motion caputure in BVH format
  • In XSI, import the motion capture ( file > import > biovision file ).
